When the Heart Leads, Fear Fades
Apr 12, 2025
In the heart of our wild and wondrous journey through the jungle of life, we often find ourselves at a crossroads between the path of love or the path of fear.
I know I have found myself on multiple occasions being almost pulled between love and fear.
Fear on one shoulder, whispering caution, convincing me to shrink or stay safe.
Love on the other, inviting me to expand, open, risk and feel.
These two powerful forces shape our experiences and influence our decisions in profound ways.
This evening I am taking some time to explore and share on the transformative power of moving from love rather than fear—embracing a life of clarity, connection, courage, flow and heart coherence.
Fear is a primal emotion, deeply rooted in our survival instincts. It serves a purpose—it alerts us to danger and prepares us to respond. But in the modern world, fear has evolved beyond its original role. It shows up as perfectionism. People-pleasing. Procrastination. Overthinking. Shutting down.
Fear often wears masks.
It creeps into our thoughts and actions in subtle, pervasive ways. Fear can manifest as self-doubt, anxiety and resistance to change. It can hold us back from pursuing our dreams, forming meaningful connections and living our fullest lives. It disconnects us from our wholeness.
Fear is not the enemy. It is a messenger but it is not the guide.
Love, on the other hand, is expansive, liberating and powerful. It opens our hearts and minds, fostering trust, compassion, and resilience. When we move from love, we act with intention, empathy, and courage. Love encourages us to take risks, to be vulnerable and to connect more deeply with ourselves and others. It is the force that nurtures growth, creativity & joy and beautifully it invites us into flow.
When we live in alignment with love, we enter what researchers and mystics call flow state: that timeless, spacious place where presence meets passion. Where action feels effortless and intuitive. When love leads, fear fades and we begin to flow with life, rather than fight against it.
Even more, love creates heart coherence—a scientifically studied state where our heart rhythms become harmonious, our nervous system calms and our brain and body communicate with clarity. This is more than just a poetic idea. It’s real, measurable and deeply healing.
Heart coherence is what happens when we breathe consciously, think compassionately and feel deeply connected to our truth. It’s the inner hum of alignment. It’s the gateway to healing, intuition and inner peace.
Love sees and feels the whole picture.
It softens the sharpness of judgment.
It holds space for pain and possibility to coexist.
Love is not naive—it is the most courageous force we can choose.
How do we choose love over fear in life?
It starts with awareness and intention.
It starts with slowing down, tuning in and gently asking ourselves—what is guiding me right now: my love or my fear?
Over the years, I have gathered and returned to many practices that help me move from the tension of fear into the tenderness of love.
These practices are more than rituals—they are lifelines.
Each time I choose to practice self-compassion, I remind myself that I am allowed to feel afraid. I don’t push fear away—I sit beside it, breathe with it, and offer it kindness. I treat myself with the same gentleness and grace I would offer a dear friend, recognising that fear is a natural emotion, but it doesn’t have to control me.
Love asks us to be seen in our rawness. Every time I share my story, my heart, or my truth—whether in the Vision Therapy room, during an Intuitive Wellness session, leading a circle or facilitating a workshop—I’m reminded that embracing vulnerability is not weakness; it’s courage in motion. Even when it scares me, I choose to stand in my truth, speak from the heart and hold space with presence. In doing so, I feel fear loosen its grip. Embracing vulnerability has become my bridge to belonging, deepening my connection to self and others.
In moments when fear clouds my vision, I practice gratitude to return to the present. I shift my focus to the abundance in life—the beauty, the blessings, the breath. Even when fear tries to convince me I don’t have enough, gratitude reminds me of all that is already here. A hand to hold. A chance to take a deep breath. A sunrise I didn’t have to earn. Writing at least three things I’m grateful for each morning and evening has become a simple but profound practice that grounds me in love and helps me stay anchored in what truly matters.
Flow-inducing activities like running outdoors, writing from the heart, or dancing to music that stirs my soul invite me back into presence. Whether it’s a sunrise run, barefoot dancing in the backyard, stretching between clients, reading a soulful book, or sharing a heart-to-heart conversation, these moments move stagnant fear and recharge my love battery. In flow, fear has no foothold—only freedom. These people, spaces, and rituals elevate my spirit and open me to the energy of love.
Breathwork and mindfulness gently guide me home to myself. I often pause and take a few soft breaths into my heart space, imagining my breath flowing in and out like a wave—steady, soothing. These practices help me stay present and centred. Whether it’s intuitive movement, walking barefoot in nature, or simply closing my eyes and letting my breath hold me, I return to my body—the safest place to anchor when fear pulls me into mental spirals. I bring to mind something that evokes gratitude or love, and this simple act shifts my entire state of being. In these moments, I choose to gently return to love.
The wisdom of nature and sacred sound help me remember who I am. When I feel disconnected, I step outside and listen—birdsong, the rustle of leaves, the rhythm of waves. Nature knows coherence. It brings me back into harmony. Singing, chanting, or simply humming grounds me and lifts me all at once. Sound and nature together become a portal—a pathway home to presence, peace and the rhythm of love.
Keep reading for some stories of shifting from fear to love—drawn from my own life, and my experiences as both an intuitive wellness guide and a vision therapist.
In my own life, when I first began sharing publicly about intuitive wellness guidance, I was terrified. What would others think? Was it “professional” enough? Would anyone care?
Years ago, I stood at a professional crossroads: stay on the comfortable, predictable path—or step into something more aligned with my soul, integrating Vision Therapy with Intuitive Guidance. Fear screamed, “What if it doesn’t work?” but love whispered, “What if it changes lives and the world?”
So, I went ahead and chose love.
I wholeheartedly followed this calling.
I chose love, curiosity, and service as I began sharing what I knew deep down to be true: that we all carry wild wisdom within us, and we are all just finding our way home to ourselves.
That single choice changed everything.
My voice became clearer. My work deepened. My relationships expanded.
I let go of needing to prove and stepped into the joy of simply being.
The way I show up in the world is now rooted in truth and full-hearted expression. Every step I have taken since has brought me deeper into alignment, connection, and joy. I entered a new level of flow with my purpose—one that continues to support and guide me through life.
As an intuitive wellness guide one client came to me wrapped in self-doubt, afraid to trust her own voice. Together, we practiced heart coherence breathing, journaling, and nervous system grounding. One day, something clicked—she wept and said, “I finally feel safe in my body.” That was the moment love arrived. And from that moment, her creative work began to pour through her. She stopped overthinking and started flowing.
Another client had internalised the belief that she was “too much.” Too emotional. Too intense. Too sensitive. Her fear had taught her to shrink.
Through breathwork, guided somatic practices and reflective journaling, we gently reconnected her to the truth: her sensitivity was her gift. She now leads women’s circles with the same heart she once tried to hide. She chose love and it liberated her.
In the vision therapy room a young boy with tracking issues burst into tears each time a task became challenging. She had been labelled as “emotional” and “overreactive” but I saw something else—a nervous system stuck in fear.
We added breathwork. We shook it out. We danced. We named the emotions. I taught her that her body was wise not wobbly. Eventually, the tears turned into giggles. “I’m the boss of my eyes now!” she said one afternoon. That’s what love over fear looks like: empowering rather than deflating.
A young man with post-concussion, felt like he had lost a piece of himself. He feared he would never be the same again. As his visual system slowly reintegrated through vision therapy, something else emerged—hope. He began to play sports again, to laugh again, to dream again. With every session, his nervous system found greater coherence. His eyes stopped fleeting about, his words became steadier and his confidence bloomed. That is the healing power of choosing love—one breath, one gaze, one moment at a time.
To deepen your understanding and practice of moving from love rather than fear, consider the following reflective thoughts.
What decisions in your life have been driven by fear? How did they shape your path?
Can you remember a time you chose love over fear? What changed?
Where does fear still live in your body and how might you gently move it?
In what ways can you express more love and compassion towards yourself and others?
How does moving from love align with your personal values and goals?
What does love feel like in your body and how can you return to it more often?
What daily rituals or practices help you feel more grounded in love?
How can you extend more compassion—to yourself, to your inner child, to the people around you?
How can you create more moments of heart coherence in your day?
Think of individuals who have inspired you by choosing love over fear.
Perhaps a friend who pursued their passion despite uncertainty or a public figure who advocated for change with courage and compassion. These stories remind us of the incredible potential within us to transform our lives and the lives of others through love.
The journey of moving from love rather than fear is ongoing.
It’s not a one-time decision—it’s a daily practice.
A soul-deep remembering.
A sacred return.
It requires commitment, a whole lot of patience and unwavering tenderness.
The rewards are immeasurable.
A life of deeper connections. Greater fulfillment. And true, unapologetic authenticity.
A life lived in flow. A heart beating in coherence. A spirit fully alive.
As we navigate the wild terrain of our lives, let love be our guide. Let it illuminate the path with warmth, hope, and wisdom. Let it be the reason we rise, the courage behind our yes and the softness within our strength.
In the spirit of Wild Wellness with Hannah, let us honour the sacred choice to move from and with love.
Let us embrace the messy, beautiful, soul-stretching journey of living from the heart.
Let us dance with fear but follow love.
Again and again and again.
Love is more than just a feeling.
It’s a frequency. A force. A flow state. A rhythm of the heart. A way of being.
And it’s the essence of a life truly lived.
Remember, the choice is yours: move from love, breathe into coherence and watch your world transform.
