Permission to Pause as We All Deserve a Break
Apr 15, 2025
I’m typing this from Sydney Airport, just moments before boarding an Emirates flight to Dubai, en route to Egypt. The cold-pressed juice has been sipped, the bags are checked and my heart is doing that familiar flutter it always does before adventure begins. There is something truly magical about this liminal space—between where I have been and where I am going. The edge of a while new wild and wonderful chapter, and I can already feel the shift stirring in my bones.
By the time you read my next blog, I’ll be soaking in the energy and atmosphere of Dubai, where the next post will be coming in hot—sun-kissed skin, spices in the air and stories ready to spill onto the page but before I dive into the adventure ahead, I want to talk about something just as important as the journey itself—the power of taking a break.
Sometimes the most profound journey is the one that calls us inward.
How often do we give ourselves full permission to pause?
How often do we take time to step away from the daily to-do lists, the responsibilities and the constant momentum of life?
How often do we allow stillness to be enough?
When was the last time you truly rested without needing to recover from burnout first?
What might shift if we treated rest as a sacred rhythm rather than a stolen moment?
If you are anything like me, you might find yourself caught in the rhythm of doing—chasing goals, showing up for others, creating with heart and giving with love.
While all of that is beautiful and fulfilling, there comes a time when the body, mind, and soul whisper (or sometimes scream),“rest now beautiful one.”
Here are a few more questions for you from my heart to yours.
When was the last time you truly listened to your body calling for stillness?
What would it feel like to pause without guilt or apology?
What kind of clarity might arrive when you allow yourself to simply be?
Let me share something I’ve learned, again and again—we all deserve rest. Not because we have ‘earned’ it, but because we are human and deserve it.
Let me share something with you— we all deserve rest because rest is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.
A reclaiming. A remembering. A return to rhythm.
Somewhere along the way, we were told that rest is indulgent. That we have to hustle to prove our worth. That we must earn stillness through exhaustion.
Let me remind you: that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Rest is not a reward for working hard—it is fuel for living well.
Breaks are not signs of weakness—they are signs of wisdom.
Stepping back doesn’t mean you are giving up—it means you are giving yourself what you need to move forward with energy and clarity.
I know that when I allow myself to rest, to travel, to be creative, to step away from the daily rhythm, I return to my life refreshed, reinvigorated and more inspired than ever.
This trip isn’t just about seeing new places; it’s about shifting perspective. I have always found that travel has a magical way of reminding us that life is so much bigger than our everyday routines.
It shakes us up.
It wakes us up.
It invites us into new ways of thinking, feeling and being.
Even if you’re not boarding a plane to an overseas destination anytime soon, taking a break doesn’t have to mean traveling across the world.
It can be as simple as turning off your phone for the afternoon and taking a long walk.
It can be spending a weekend in nature, away from screens and schedules.
It can be curling up with a book and giving yourself a slow, intentional moment of peace.
It can be saying no to the next obligation and yes to your nervous system.
It can be lighting a candle, placing your hand on your heart and simply breathing.
If you have been feeling like you should keep pushing, keep showing up, keep doing more—this is your gentle reminder that it’s okay to pause.
This is your loving reminder: You are allowed to pause. In fact, you need to pause. Not later. Not in 5 or 10 minutes. Not once everything is done. Now.
Join me to take a moment to reframe the way we see breaks. Instead of guilt, let’s replace it with gratitude:
I am grateful for this moment to recharge.
I trust that rest will bring me clarity.
By taking care of myself, I am creating space for deeper creativity, love and joy.
When we rest, we rise.
And when we rise, we rise with soul.
So here I am, embracing my own pause, about to embark on an adventure that will no doubt fill my heart with wonder and my journal with new stories to tell.
The next time you hear from me, I’ll be sharing from the golden warmth of Dubai—where the scent of oud dances in the air and the skyline glistens with possibility—before continuing on to Cairo, land of pyramids, desert winds and ancient magic.
Until then… I invite you to join me in the simplest ritual of all.
Take a deep breath.
Put your hand on your heart.
Give yourself full permission to rest.
And remember, my loves—you absolutely deserve it.
