This blog will take you on a heart-led and soulful exploration of what the word intention truly means, how being intentional feels and how to embody intentions in everyday life.

As we arrive in the first week of August 2025 there is no better time to pause and revisit the inner compass that guides us.
Our intentions.
The fire that was lit back in January may have dimmed, changed shape or been buried beneath the busy rhythms of life… but it still flickers within you, waiting to be rekindled.

Over the past fortnight I have found myself reflecting deeply on the art of intention-setting.
From hosting a masterclass to slow mornings with family, to moments of quiet in nature—each experience reminded me of the power of being present, of being heart-led and of choosing to live with meaning.

Setting intentions is more than crafting a to-do list or scripting lofty goals.
It is much more than resolutions or productivity.
It is a sacred act.
An energetic alignment between who we are, what we value, and how we choose to show up.
A spiritual promise to live from the inside out.

Intentions are like seeds we plant in the garden of our lives. With care, love and attention, they blossom into the fulfilment of our dreams.

How do we ensure these seeds grow and thrive?
How do we make our intentions stick?

It starts with understanding what intention truly is—not just as a concept, but as a force of energy and when we explore the word intention a little deeper… the magic expands.

Let’s begin with the roots of the word itself.
Intention comes from the Latin intentio, meaning “a stretching out, a straining, exertion, effort; attention.” It’s derived from intendere from in- meaning “toward” and tendere meaning “to stretch.”

To set an intention, then, is to stretch your soul toward a desired state of being.
It’s not just a thought or a goal—it’s a direction of energy.
It’s a conscious movement toward meaning, toward love, toward alignment.

When we speak of intention, we speak of focused presence.
Of heart.
Of soulful effort.
Of turning inward and whispering to ourselves: This is what I’m calling in.

There is even more magic when we explore intention not just through etymology, but through sound and symbolism.

I once came across a beautiful interpretation that “intention” sounds like in-tent-ion—as if we are meeting in the tent of our sacred selves.
In ancient traditions, tents were places of reverence, refuge and reflection.
Spaces where people gathered to speak intentionally, share wisdom, and dream into being.
Not just for women, but for all souls willing to sit with truth.

To set an intention is to call a meeting in your own inner tent.
To sit down with your soul.
To ask gently but honestly: What do I really want? What am I choosing to become?

Imagine this tent lit by your inner flame—a space woven from intuition, truth, and presence. A place where you return again and again, not just to speak your intentions, but to feel them.

This is the sacred container from which all aligned action is born.
This is where intention becomes embodiment.
This is where the magic begins.

Here are 10 heart-led and soulful practices to guide you into creating meaningful, high-vibrational intentions that resonate deeply and help your intentions not only take root, but truly thrive. With each practice I have intentionally included the why and how, so you can anchor into the purpose behind it, embody the process fully and allow your intentions to become aligned, felt and lived experiences.

1. Create Space for Reflection
Intentions flourish when there is space to breathe.
Just as seeds need room in the soil to take root and grow, your soul needs stillness to unfold its truth. Turn off the noise. Step away from the rush. Make space for presence—this is where intention first begins to bloom.

Dedicate time to reflect quietly, free from distraction.
Why: Intuition speaks in stillness, not in chaos.
How: Meditate, journal, or take a mindful walk. One evening, as I watched the sun set over the bay, I felt my heart softly whisper what truly matters to me.

Journal at sunrise or sunset. As the sky shifts its colours, ask: What is quietly calling me inward?
Let your pen become a portal to presence.

2. Connect with Your Heart
The heart whispers what the mind cannot grasp.

It is the place that feels all and witnesses all—your quiet compass, your inner oracle. The heart knows the way. All it asks is that you listen.

Place your hands gently on your heart. Breathe deeply. Ask yourself: What do I truly long for? What do I desire beneath the noise? The answers may surprise you—and they will always be true.

Why: Heart-centered intentions are authentic, sustainable, and deeply aligned.
How: Listen without judgement. Let the answers rise like waves—soft, raw, honest.

What does my heart ache to express, experience, or embody this season?
Let your heart lead the way with this wild prompt.

3. Trust Your Intuition
Intuition is the GPS of your soul.
It speaks through the body—often long before the mind catches up. Your intuition is your inner compass, guiding you gently toward what feels aligned, true, and purposeful.

When considering an intention, pause and listen inward. Feel into your “yes” and “no.” Your body always knows.

Why: Intuition leads you into alignment with your soul’s highest path
How: Tune into how your body responds. Does this intention feel expansive or constricting? Light or heavy? Open or closed?

Does this intention feel like expansion or contraction?
Trust the feeling. Your body holds the answer.

4. Anchor Intentions in Core Values
Values are the roots of resilient intentions.
When your intentions are anchored in what matters most, they don’t waver with fear, trends, or outside pressure. They hold you steady—like deep roots in shifting soil.

Intentions grounded in values are enduring. They guide your actions with clarity, meaning, and soul-alignment.

Why: Values keep your intentions strong during life’s inevitable storms.
How: Identify your top values—perhaps love, creativity, authenticity, or balance. Then align your intentions with those values to create powerful, heart-led direction.

List your top 3 core values.
Now write one intention for each that honours what you truly stand for.

Example:
💫 Value: Connection → “I intend to create meaningful conversations each week.”

5. Write Clear and Empowering Intentions
Words are spells. Be mindful of what you are casting.

Your language holds power. The words you choose shape your energy, your mindset, and your reality. When setting intentions, make your language empowering, specific, and rooted in the present tense.

Why: Clarity brings tangibility. Writing your intentions solidifies them—giving them weight, presence, and life.
How: Choose words that uplift, affirm, and honour your truth. Speak to who you are becoming, not who you were.

Examples:
I intend to nurture my creativity daily.
I choose to approach challenges with courage.
I am committed to finding joy in small moments.
I choose joy as my compass.
I honour my time and energy with sacred boundaries.
I lead with love and show up fully.

Let your words be rooted in love and lit with intention.

6. Embrace Emotional Energy
Feel it to fuel it.
Intentions come alive when infused with feeling. It’s not enough to think your intention—you must feel it, embody it, become it.

Feel your intentions as if they have already come true.
Let the emotions they stir—joy, gratitude, peace—ripple through your body.
This emotional frequency is what activates and accelerates manifestation.

Why: Emotions amplify your intentions and magnetise them into motion.
How: Visualise your intention fulfilled. Breathe into it. Let your body respond. What does it feel like to already be living that life?

Dance your intention.
Sing it out loud.
Visualise it while breathing deeply into your belly.
Let it take up space in your cells, your energy, your being.

Become the emotion behind the intention and watch it bloom.

7. Stay Open and Flexible
The soul flows and never forces.
Intentions are sacred—but they are not set in stone. They are meant to evolve as you do.
Life will surprise you, stretch you and sometimes redirect you toward something even more aligned.
Let your intentions breathe and grow with you.

Why: Trusting the natural rhythm of life allows your intentions to unfold with grace and authenticity.
How: Release rigid attachment to specific outcomes. Let go of control and lean into curiosity. Your path may shift, but your purpose remains.

I honour the divine detours and trust what unfolds.
Repeat this mantra when plans change. Repeat it when doubt creeps in.
Let it remind you that you are still on your way.

8. Create Rituals to Reinforce Intentions
Repetition is remembrance.
Rituals are sacred anchors. They keep your intentions close, weaving them into the rhythm of your day and reminding you who you are becoming.
When done with presence, even the simplest act or ritual becomes a powerful practice of alignment.

Why: Rituals help you stay connected to what you’re working toward, grounding your intentions in daily life.
How: Choose soulful touchpoints that resonate with you. Light a candle. Whisper a mantra. Meditate. Let your actions mirror your becoming.

Ideas:
Light a candle as you journal each morning.
Meditate on your intentions before bed.
Create a vision board filled with images and words that stir your soul.
Build a moon cycle altar to honour evolving intentions.
Use essential oils to anchor in specific feelings (e.g., lavender for calm, wild orange for joy, frankincense for clarity).

Let your rituals be quiet love letters to your future self.

9. Reflect and Revisit Your Intentions
Life changes. So wwill your intentions.
Just like the seasons shift, your needs, values, and desires will evolve—and your intentions are allowed to evolve with them. Some will bloom beautifully. Others may wilt and fall away. That’s okay. What matters most is staying honest and heart-aligned.

Why: Reflection helps ensure your intentions still resonate with your current season of self.
How: Set aside time weekly or monthly to check in with your inner compass. Sit with your journal, take a walk, or light a candle and ask:

Are my actions aligned with my intentions?
Do my intentions still reflect what matters most to me now?
What intention is no longer serving me?
What am I ready to recommit to with more presence and purpose?

Let your intentions be living, breathing reflections of your becoming.

10. Celebrate Every Step Forward
Joy fuels momentum.
Gratitude keeps you moving. Celebration magnifies progress. No step is too small to honour—because each one is a sign that you are already living your intention.

Why: Small wins build lasting momentum. When you pause to celebrate, you anchor in the energy of becoming.
How: Acknowledge your progress, whether it’s a mindset shift, a brave choice, or a quiet moment of alignment.

Ways to Celebrate:
Speak your wins aloud and let them land.
Share your progress with a trusted friend or mentor.
Keep a “wild wins” journal to track your journey and cheer yourself on.

Let joy be your compass.
Let celebration be your fuel.
You are already becoming the version of you that once felt far away.

Let the following affirmations serve as anchors reminding you of your truth, your power and your purpose.
Speak them aloud.
Write them in your journal.
Whisper them to your reflection.
Let them land.

🌹 I am rooted in my values and rise in my truth.
🌹 My intentions are living prayers, guided by heart and soul.
🌹 I co-create a life of joy, love, and sacred purpose.
🌹 Each day, I choose to return to what matters most.
🌹 I am guided by my heart and trust my intuition to lead me toward my highest good.
🌹 I create intentions that align with my values and honour my authentic self.
🌹 My heart and intuition are my compass, leading me to joy, fulfilment and peace.

Repeat. Remember. Return.

Let these words be a mirror for the intention-filled life you are here to live.

Intentions don’t only belong to the first day of January.
They can be whispered into your coffee cup each morning, spoken to the stars each new moon or written in your journal on a rainy afternoon.

Setting intentions doesn’t have to wait for a new year.
Let your heart guide you—daily, weekly or monthly.
As I have experienced through my own adventures and reflections, staying connected to your heart creates a life of flow and fulfillment.

Let your life be guided by seasonal intentions—like waves on the shore, always shifting, always flowing, always returning to the ocean of your truth.

To set an intention is to declare your sacred “yes.”
To meet in the tent of your own soul, sit in presence with your heart and stretch toward the life you are ready to receive.

Setting intentions is an act of love—for yourself, your dreams and your future.
When you lead with your heart and trust your intuition, your intentions become a powerful force for transformation.

This week, I invite you to pause.
Breathe.
Tune in.
Ask yourself:
What am I intentionally choosing to feel, embody and become?
What does my heart desire to ignite?

This isn’t about pressure—it’s about presence.
Let this moment be your tent.
Let your intention be the fire you tend within.
Let your heart lead.

Always remember....
Your intention is your invitation:
To yourself,
To the universe,
To the life you are co-creating.

Every intention is a quiet yet sacred spark that says, “I choose again.”
In the stillness between what was and what could be, we find ourselves at the threshold of becoming.
This is where we set our hearts on fire with purpose.
This is where we remember that we are the artists of our own becoming.
To walk with intention is to honour the whispers within, to live with heart wide open and to trust that even the softest steps can lead to powerful change.
Let this mantra be your anchor and your ignition.

A return.
A rise.
A revelry.
A remembering.
A reclamation.

I walk with intention.
I live with heart.
I stretch toward joy, love and wholeness.
I honour the whispers of my soul.
I meet myself in the sacred tent and choose to begin again.
