Ignite Independence
Jul 08, 2025
Independence is a concept that is often associated with freedom, strength and self-reliance.
Let me share something with you…..independence is all of the above and so much more.
More than the ability to stand on your own.
It is the art of balancing self-trust with meaningful connections.
It is honouring your individuality while still tending to the relationships that enrich your life and rituals that nourish your soul.
Independence is a beautiful paradox: standing tall in your truth while staying open to love, belonging and the people and passions that fuel your soul.
Independence is about consciously choosing what aligns rather than cutting ties with people or isolating yourself.
Independence is the cultivation of confidence and resilience to live authentically, guided by your own values, intuition and inner wisdom.
Independence is the cultivation of confidence and resilience to live authentically, guided by your own values, intuition and inner wisdom.
It’s not about isolation.
It’s about creating a foundation so strong that you can thrive and love freely, without losing yourself.
It’s not about performing or pleasing.
It’s about responding with clarity, choosing with courage and living with intention.
Independence doesn’t just happen overnight; independence is a journey of self-discovery and intentional living.
Independence is not about isolation.
It is about creating a solid foundation that allows you to thrive while maintaining harmonious connections with others.
Independence is more than just a state of being. It is a way of living with confidence, clarity and purpose.
Ignite it.
Nurture it.
Let it light your path forward.

Walk your own path.
Trust your own knowing.
Let the ignition of independence begin as we dive into the essence of what it means to be truly independent not just in action, but in body, heart, mind and soul. 💖
Independence is a state of being that goes far deeper than just self-reliance.
It’s about living with purpose and clarity, being anchored in who you are and navigating the wild terrain of life with grace.
Independence is more than a label or a word.
It is a way of living with purpose, clarity, and grace. It means being anchored in who you are and choosing your path with courage, conviction and care as you navigate the wild yet wonderful terrain of life.
It means aligning your actions with your values.
It means trusting your intuition, even when others don’t understand.
It means letting your inner wisdom lead the way.
It means trusting your intuition, even when others don’t understand.
It means letting your inner wisdom lead the way.
True independence is about conscious connection.
You don’t seek others to complete you, but to complement your wholeness.
You walk beside others, not behind them.
You honour your needs, speak your truth and allow love to flow from overflow not form lack.
You walk beside others, not behind them.
You honour your needs, speak your truth and allow love to flow from overflow not form lack.
To be truly independent is to build relationships and a life that support and celebrate your individuality.
It was so easy to choose the image above because this is what independence feels and looks like to me.
The wind in my hair, the earth beneath me, my laughter unfiltered and unforced.
In this moment, I wasn’t performing.
I wasn’t pleasing.
I wasn’t pleasing.
I wasn’t proving.
I was simply being me.
Wild, beautiful, present, independent and grounded in my essence.
Independence is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it looks like sitting on a hillside, mesmerised by the ocean waves as they flow in and out, being barefoot on the earth, soaking in your own joy.
Letting your spirit rest in the quiet knowing that you belong to yourself first.
This is freedom.
This is connection.
This is connection.
This is the embodiment of a life led by intuition, intention and innate wisdom.
On the other side of independence is codependence which often stems from a deep-rooted need for validation or an inability to establish healthy boundaries. While love and connection are essential parts of being human, relying too heavily on others for your sense of self-worth can quietly hinder your growth and independence.
Codependence often arises from a place of fear.
A fear of being alone, of making mistakes, or of not being “enough” without approval from others.
A fear of being alone, of making mistakes, or of not being “enough” without approval from others.
It is so easy to fall into patterns where we outsource our worth, leaning too heavily on others to feel whole.
Those patterns, however familiar are not freedom as they keep us from fully realising our potential.
Breaking free from codependence doesn’t mean rejecting love or relationships.
It means redefining them through building self-trust, rooting your worth within, choosing to love yourself without losing yourself and intentionally honouring your needs.
It means redefining them through building self-trust, rooting your worth within, choosing to love yourself without losing yourself and intentionally honouring your needs.
Codependence can look like people-pleasing, silencing your truth or sacrificing your well-being for connection.
Real connection is never built on self-abandonment.
Real connection is built on mutual respect, shared truth and sovereignty.
When you choose self-love and inner stability as your foundation, you begin to validate your own emotions, honour your energy, trust your voice and the power of the words you are spending while you create space for others without shrinking yourself
This is where wild independence is born.
It’s not about walking away from connection. It is about walking beside others, not behind them.
It’s about creating relationships that add to your life, not complete it.
It’s about creating relationships that add to your life, not complete it.
When you reimagine relationships in this way, you ignite a deeper, wilder kind of independence.
A kind of independence that empowers you to live and love freely without ever losing yourself.
Breaking free from codependence is one of the most liberating steps you can take toward igniting your independence.
Independence doesn’t mean disconnecting from those you love.
It doesn’t mean building walls or pretending you don’t care.
Independence means creating a life where your worth isn’t tied to external validation but anchored within.
Where your love for others coexists with a fierce love for yourself.
Breaking free from codependence is a sacred and empowering journey that calls you back home to your own wisdom, voice and truth.
Here are some gentle yet extremely powerful steps to support that journey:
Practice self-awareness as you notice where you may be relying on others for your happiness, identity, or decision-making.
Ask yourself “am I doing this because it aligns with my values or because I am seeking the approval of someone else?”
Self-awareness is the first step in returning to your own inner compass.
Ask yourself “am I doing this because it aligns with my values or because I am seeking the approval of someone else?”
Self-awareness is the first step in returning to your own inner compass.
Set standards with love as boundaries are beautiful bridges to connection and standards are sensational. They protect your peace, honour your energy and create space for respectful, soul-nourishing relationships. Learn to say “no” without guilt and “yes” with your whole heart.
Reclaim your power as you take full responsibility for your emotional wellbeing. You don’t need someone else to fix things for you as you don’t need fixing at all.
You are wise, resilient and resourceful.
Trust in your own capacity to respond, adapt and rise as you already hold the tools within you to navigate whatever life brings.
You are wise, resilient and resourceful.
Trust in your own capacity to respond, adapt and rise as you already hold the tools within you to navigate whatever life brings.
Celebrate your wins as every step no matter how small is worth celebrating. Every no, every sacred pause, every brave act of self-honouring matters. From saying no for the first time, to taking a day just for yourself to kindly speaking your truth, each act is a powerful declaration of I choose me.
When you begin to break the cycle of codependence, everything shifts.
Your relationships evolve from lifelines into aligned partnerships rooted in mutual respect and authenticity.
You step into your life with greater clarity, courage, and confidence.
You step into your life with greater clarity, courage, and confidence.
You begin to love not from lack, but from abundance & overflow and that my loves, changes everything.
There is a certain magic in words, isn’t there?
They carry meaning, stir emotion, deepen connection and offer us a lens through which to view the world.

Words are far more than just tools of communication. They are energy in motion.
Spells. Anchors. Affirmations. Medicine.
Spells. Anchors. Affirmations. Medicine.
As a wild wordkeeper and lover of lexicology (the study of words and their meanings) I find immense joy in discovering how words shape not only how we think, but how we feel, heal and experience life.
Language shapes our reality.
The words we choose carry vibration, intention, and the power to guide and transform us.
There is a special kind of power with “in” words.
They invite us inward.
They awaken something within us.
They hold a mirror to our soul.
They shape our reality, our emotions and our inner world.
They awaken something within us.
They hold a mirror to our soul.

As you ignite your independence, consider the empowering magic of these “in” words.
Words that invite introspection, trust in yourself and a life led by intention.

This collection of “in” words has grown slowly and soulfully over time and I trust it will continue to grow.
Each word is more than just a combination of letters.
It is a spark.
A tiny ember that lights up a corner of your mind,
Eliciting thoughts, emotions and a deep sense of possibility.
